Filip Rufer began playing the cello at age seven at the Elementary School of the Arts in Červený Kostelec under the guidance of Jana Šimková. In 2022, he graduated from the Pardubice Conservatoire, where he studied under the professors Josef Krečmer and Jan Zemen. He is now in his fourth year of study at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague in the studio of Miroslav Petráš.

Thanks to the project Erasmus, he has also studied under Emil Rovner at the Hochschule für Musik Carl Maria von Weber in Dresden. He has won several prizes at international competitions including Talents for Europe (first prize) and Pro Bohemia Ostrava (second prize).

He has appeared as a soloist with the Pardubice Chamber Philharmonic, the Hradec Králové Philharmonic, and the North Bohemia Philharmonic in Teplice. He has been a member of the Orchestral Academy of the Prague Philharmonia and of the Academy of Chamber Music. He is a member of the Kukal String Quartet and of the ensemble Barocco sempre giovane.
